How to Apply for UK Expansion Worker Visa from Pakistan?

You can choose from a number of Global Business Mobility (GBM) visas if you wish to come to the UK as an overseas worker. One of the give GBM visas is the UK Expansion Worker visa.

This type of visa is meant for professionals who want to come to the UK to expand an overseas business which is already operational outside the UK. Senior employees or specialists can apply for this visa to grow a business and establish its presence in the UK.

The Expansion Worker Visa is a nonimmigrant visa. You can’t use it to seek permanent settlement or residency in the UK. However, if you have come to the UK on this visa, you may be able to switch to other visas that lead to settlement and residency.

If you want to come to the UK from Pakistan by getting an Expansion Worker visa to UK, we can help. Adam Bernard is one of the leading visa consultants in Pakistan for UK visas.

Our UK Expansion Worker visa consultants can help you prepare your visa application and complete it before submitting. Being a leading UK visa consultant firm in Pakistan, we help significantly increase your chances of success in your visa application.

What is Job Skill Level Requirement?

This is one of the key requirements for a UK Expansion Worker visa. As per this requirement, the job which you plan to do in the UK must meet specific criteria.

First, your intended job must be on the Home Office list of eligible jobs for GBM. Second, this job must have a skill requirement of RQF Level 6 at the very least.

This skill requirement is equivalent to graduate skill requirement. In other words, your intended job must require at least graduate-level skills.

This doesn’t mean that you must have a graduate degree to apply for the visa for this specific job. But your overall qualifications, skills, and experience must be relevant to the job.

When you apply for the visa, the Home Office will look at the job requirements and then at your credentials.

If your academic background, experience, and other qualifications match those of the job, you are more likely to get a visa. If there is a disparity between your credentials and the job’s requirements, you may face a visa refusal.

This is why it is best to consult a reliable UK visa consultant firm like Adam Bernard when you are choosing the right occupation code for your visa application. You can also discuss this with your UK sponsor who will issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for your application.

Financial Requirements for UK Expansion Worker Visa

You are required to prove that you are able to financially support yourself for at least one month after you arrive in the UK. This is based on the expectation that you will start receiving your salary at the end of the first month.

For the first month, you must show that you have at least £1,270 in cash funds that you can use at your discretion. The best way to prove this is to have these funds in your bank account.

This amount must have been in your account or in your possession for at least 28 days out of the 31 days immediately prior to the visa application.

You can also apply to have your dependents, including children or spouse, to join you in the UK once you have arrived on an Expansion Worker visa.

If you do apply to bring dependents to the UK, you must meet additional financial requirements. These include the following:

  • Availability of at least £285 if your spouse or partner is applying for the visa
  • Availability of at least £315 if one child is applying for the visa
  • Availability of £315 for the first child and £200 for subsequent children if more than one child is applying

Our UK Expansion Worker visa consultants can help you meet these financial requirements when you are applying for an Expansion worker visa to UK, or a visa for your dependents from Pakistan.

What is a UK Sponsor and Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)?

When you are applying for a UK Expansion Worker visa, you are required to get a CoS from a UK sponsor.

A UK sponsor is any business or organisation based in the UK who is a Licensed Sponsor and is A-rated on the Home Office’s list. The sponsor has the legal permission to bring overseas workers to the UK for eligible jobs. This is done once the sponsor issues a CoS and an applicant uses it to apply for the visa.

A Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) confirms that the sponsor has formally asked you to apply for a job in the UK. Your CoS contains the exact occupation code of the job you will undertake once you are in the UK. It also states your name, annual salary, previous qualifications, and other important details.

You can use a CoS only within three months after it has been issued. If your CoS is more than three months old at the time you submit your visa application, the Home Office will not accept it as valid.

It is important to discuss the details of your CoS with your UK sponsor before you apply. The CoS plays a central role in the outcome of your visa application. We are an experienced UK visa consultant firm that can help you ensure that your CoS has all the right details when you are applying for a GBM visa from Pakistan.

Overseas Work Requirement

If you intend to come to the UK on an Expansion Worker visa, you must have previously worked with your overseas employer for a cumulative period of at least 12 months.

If your annual salary is £73,900 or more, you don’t need to fulfil this requirement.

Another requirement you must meet is that your employer and your UK sponsor must have a valid link. This is established if your employer and sponsor are linked through common ownership or control.

Salary Requirements

When you receive a CoS from a UK sponsor, it must state your annual salary. As per the requirements of the UK Home Office, this salary must be at or above the level of a threshold salary. This salary is defined as 100% of the pro-rate of the job, or £42,400, whichever is higher.

For instance, if your intended job has a pro-rate salary of £50,000 in the UK, you must be offered this amount and not the threshold amount of £42,400. If your salary is below this amount, the Home Office is very likely to reject the visa application.

Similarly, if the pro-rate of your eligible job has an annual salary of £38,500, your sponsor must instead offer you the threshold amount of £42,400 at the very least.

It is best to consult UK Expansion Worker visa consultants when determining which job you should apply for to obtain a UK visa. We can help you choose a job that is eligible, matches your qualifications, and will help you secure an Expansion Worker visa to UK.
